PRIVATE LESSON HIGHLIGHTS:

Keylab offers private music lessons both in-home and here at the studio. Here are some recent moments from our unique, tailored individual and group lessons.

Fiorella and Fiona take class together with their sister Keisha to focus not only on their instruments but on songwriting and playing together as a band. Here they are playing their version of Daniel Caesar’s song “Best Part." They work with Keylab teacher, Lucy Clifford.

Duncan started voice lessons with Sam Talmadge this fall. This is Duncan singing "Hey Jude." They've been working on opening up the range in his voice and relaxing the back of the throat for a fuller sound.

Liam, who takes SONGLAB and private lesson with teacher, Lucy Clifford shares a song he wrote in class titled "Mom and Dad."

INSIDE SONGLAB:

In the Tech Lab

"The magic of sampling is turning something you wouldn't normally use into an instrument." -- Matthew Ryals, Tech Lab teacher.

In the Tech Lab, students have begun their second song project of the year. Last week, we learned about sampling and how to use the sampler instrument in Garageband.

The students continue to learn about sampling. They record any sound (voice, clapping, whistling, etc.), play it on the midi keyboard and use it in an original song. In addition, kids are being introduced to the bass and guitar instruments in Garageband, and are learning how to add those elements to their own compositions. Some of our more advanced students are learning to edit their samples to simulate drum sounds and create their own drum loops!

Check out Chloe's new song. She's from the band THE NOISEMAKERS.

Tommy of NOTORIOUS NOTES shares his work in progress from TECH LAB!

(It has a "P" section and counting)

Favorite Instrument: Nord (awesome digital keyboard!).

Snack of choice if on a desert island: Huge bag of BBQ chips.

What he would be listening to as he snacked: Old Town Road.

Why does the world need music?

So you can be entertained sometimes when you’re a little bored.

Earliest memory of music: When I learned how to play twinkle twinkle little star. On piano.
